Don’t Elbow me, I’m the MVP
LeBron James is going to be named the MVP of the NBA. It’s hard to argue with the decision. He does it all. Offense, defense, but now he has to take the Cavs to the finish line. Not if Dwight Howard and company have anything to say about it. The Orlando Magic have a lot on the line as well. This upcoming playoff series should be fantastic and very fiery. I think we go the distance and powerful, intense basketball is going to be the kind of performances we see from the Orlando Magic and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Should be great to be out cheering for my Magic. Let’s get it on. In the end, I think Orlando’s Magic will be MVPlayers worthy.

Brett Under the Knife this Time
Brett Favre has been informed that if he wants to continue to play in the NFL, he has to have ankle surgery. This changes the picture a lot. We are all used to the long wait for Brett to make up his mind, keep fans on edge etc. but not whether or not you have to have surgery :it’s do it or you can’t play. With an already newsworthy quarterback off season, this is another jolt. Will Tebow play in Denver, will Jamarcus still be in Oakland, will The NY Jets still get superstar quarterback production, how does Sam starts as a rookie, lots of questions. Favre is one of the biggest. WE’LL see. What is your take? I can’t wait for football season to start. For me still the best of sports.

Ireland’s drawn almost everyone’s “Ire”
Jeff Ireland, GM of the Miami Dolphins has now been downgraded in the draft by everyone. Even the Miami Dolphin owner is supposed to be taking action. We’ll see, but it is clear that almost all feel that the question posed to Dez Bryant was out of line. I doubt he really wanted an answer to the question, but rather the kind of response Dez would show: anger, temper, etc. What a ridiculous concept because whatever Dez wanted to do, he knew he could not because he was being interviewed. I think the Miami Dolphin PR department should be working overtime. You let Jason Taylor an absolute fan favorite go to the hated NY Jets, I think most improved team in their division if not league, and Zach Thomas was treated like an unwanted rodent when he left, also a fan favorite. Having stars like JayLo walking around your stadium which has been part of the Miami plan does not do anything to win games. Does it sell tickets? I don’t know, but good players should be treated with respect. It’s football you are playing, not concerts.

Dwight’s Paying, while not Playing
Oh Dwight, your Orlando Magic is already advancing to the next round, so you have time to sit, relax, and look forward to facing your next opponent. But, even on a day off, he had to fork over $35,000 because he complained about the officials. Oh his blog he noted that he didn’t want to say anything to get himself in trouble with the league. Good luck with that. He criticized the number of calls he is getting and said it was almost comical at times how he was getting fouls called constantly. He felt he couldn’t even move on the court without a whistle blowing. I agree in part, but Dwight we need you in the game Superman, on the floor in the next round. Looking forward, I want to see the best defensive player in the NBA playing either Atlanta or Milwaukee doing what he does best, playing, not sitting. If Dwight Howard plays strong, I still think he will win out in the officiating. See you in the next round of the playoffs.

Foul On Me
Dwight Howard, the Defensive Player of the year in the NBA wrote that he is getting called for fouls more than any other star players. He may be antagonizing the refs, so this statement may not play out too well for the Orlando Magic going forward deeper into the playoffs. Almost everyone watching the Magic play the Bobcats would have to agree that many of the fouls called on Howard were borderline. The effect, however will be huge if he continues to foul out of games. How can you be the defensive player of the year in the NBA and constantly be out of games due to foul calls in the playoffs. Watch out refs, watch out Dwight: “Foul on You”.

Heckling, British Style, Does is Sound Classier?
The British Open has said that while spectators are always expected to show respect to all the golfers, Britain is not a police state and people can say what they like. The Open won’t bar Tiger hecklers. This makes for an interesting decision for Tiger Woods. He’s always said St. Andrews is one of his favorite places in the world to golf. Being as he has returned to golf, and played several tournaments including just signing on for the Players Championship, it would be odd for Tiger to miss the British Championship’s 150th year, the oldest of the Majors. Do you think the hecklers will be out. The British do love the tabloid fodder.

Bad Behavior in the NFL , not player, but GM
Can you believe Jeff Ireland, GM for the Miami Dolphins asked possible draft prospect at the time Dez Bryant if his mother was a prostitute? First of all, the audacity, how dare he? Secondly does the question give Ireland some insight into the number of catches Dez might or might not make. This is disrespectful and totally out of bounds with no merit. This is NFL Pro Football. Act like a Pro GM. I am a Miami Dolphin fan, but I am appalled. It’s certainly taken Ireland long enough to apologize. Sorry for the question Jeff, or sorry to be outed. That’s a good question, not the one Ireland asked.

The Players come to the Players
Jim Furyk has qualified for the Players Championship. Jim is a local favorite. Of course, the TPC has to be thrilled that Tiger Woods is committed to play. Also in the field is Phil Mickelson , Sergio Garcia, along with a father-son combination Jay and Bill Haas, the first to complete in the event in the same year. Nice story. The quality of players, the quality of the tournament and course should make you want to go out to Ponte Vedra. It’s a terrific place to watch golf. Heads up, if you can get Benefactor Club Tickets, it’s a fabulous experience. You have access to all the clubs, very VIP treatment and very reasonable. Take advantage of a great course.

Do You Believe in Magic
Well, “Foul on You” Dwight Howard only scored 6 points, still having foul trouble in the 4th straight game, but the Orlando Magic can sit back and wait for their opponent in the next round of the NBA playoffs thanks to Vince Carter and Jameer Nelson who delivered points. Even Coach Stan Van Gundy said that if anyone had told him that if Dwight Howard would average well under 30 minutes per game for the series, and the Magic would sweep, he’d have said you were crazy. Yes, the Orlando Magic are that good. The brooms came out and now we wait and see. Yes I believe in Magic.

Family Feud NBA style
Some of my family members live and breathe the Orlando Magic. I love the Miami Heat. During the Miami Heat/ Celtics game, when all was looking lost for the Heat, of course I get a phone call with their “sad” condolences and a reminder that they had predicted a sweep. Of course they were talking about an Orlando sweep in the event that the Miami Heat should beat the Celtics. Now they were talking about a sweep by the Boston Celtics. At that point we went from a Heat 7 point deficit to a 10 point lead during the conversation. Ah Karma, and Dwyane Wade re-channeling his 2006 playoff experience. So maybe I have a tiny prayer to get to play The Orlando Magic with Dwight Howard now known as “Foul on You”. I love it. I’m not sure the Miami Heat have 3 centers like the Bobcats to frustrate him. Oh well, I’d like to get the chance to see. I know, a wing and a prayer.
