Miami Heat Sizzle at the end of the Year

January 4, 2012 by Karren · Leave a Comment

As the ball dropped and the festivities began, the Miami Heat were feeling pretty festive too. Starting with a Christmas Blowout, they continued to show their new and intense speed and aggression.  They are all really engaged in the plays. And oh yes, LeBron James is really engaged adding a big pear-shaped stone to his girlfriend’s finger.  This one was off the court.  But on that night, on the court, against the Charlotte Bobcats, the Big Two, Bosh and Wade helped the other Big, who had a lot on his mind.  Truth be told, the Miami Heat when playing on all cylinders look tough to stop.  However, they are prone to falling apart against  a zone defense, which must be addressed by Spoelstra immediately.  One of the great surprises is how terrific the rookie Cole is playing.  Chalmers has to earn his time because Cole is really tough.  The shortened season bodes well for the Miami Heat who should go all the way.

Invasion of the Heat

The Miami Heat are really looking hot.  The “Decision” is now to have a more up beat, more  searing tempo .  The team never looked like they did against the Dallas Mavericks all of  last season.  The off season did them a world of good.  The speed of LeBron James,  Dwyne Wade and Chris Bosh looked epic.  Where did  Coach Spoelstra come up with this new look?  He took a trip to Eugene, Oregon to see Chip Kelly’s Oregon Ducks infamous spread offense .  He then translated it from football to basketball  And what a translation and transition.  Space and speed creating opportunities and mismatches. It looks like the long jumper mentality has been left in the locker room which is good since it had become so predictable.  The invasion has begun.  We’ll see if the formula that scorched the Mavs will work against the Boston Celtics who still have a terrific defense.  The Heat is On!!

Turn Around Time Tampa

While the Houston Texans are definitely a very good football team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers should never have been bashed by a score of 37-9.  The Bucs literally have to pad up.  Back to basics, like tackling, and according to Coach Raheem Morris, simply play with much more physicality.  The NFL is tough, and you have to play tough each week.  No exceptions.  Losing 3 in a row is not where you want to be at this juncture of the season.  TheNFL’s  new Collective Bargaining Agreement allows for only 2 padded practices each week.  The Green Bay Packers await.  Is there really any more that needs to be said?  Buck up Bucs.  Maybe you can be the spoilers.  There are some Legendary Miami Dolphin guys hoping you can be the ones, as are your fans.

Forget about Luck, Just Play Ball

November 15, 2011 by Karren · Leave a Comment

For all the talk about losing every game and getting into the Luck Lottery, the Luck Lottery looked a little less exciting after watching Stanford’s  game last Saturday.  Far better was looking at the Miami Dolphins on Sunday vs. the Washington Redskins.  The Dolphins are actually playing like a real unit and unified football squad.  They have now won 2 straight games, including the win at Sun Life Stadium, their  first in almost a year.  Yes, a year.  Now the Dolphins are favored by a couple of points against the once aspiring Buffalo Bills.  Home field maybe will have an advantage.  The team is showing some spunk and not playing such conservative ball.  Not to be confused with the Green Bay Packers, but at least the boys can hold their heads up.  Reggie Bush is running, Jason Taylor is sacking, and finally Dansby is becoming the player the Dolphins hoped and thought he could be.  Playoffs not in the picture, but playing is.  Go out and see for yourself.
