Olli Jokinen chalked up more than 30 goals last season, filling the shoes of former Panther and franchise record-setter Pavel Bure as team captain since 2003. Jokinen isn't the league's scoring leader by any means, but he does boast the ability to put up more points and dominate the field than most. Also notable is face-off legend Joe Nieuwendyk, who has won about every honor in the NHL except "Ms. Congeniality".

Goaltending

Donning the "Jason" mask is Canadian gold-medalist Ed Belfour, whose nickname "The Eagle" comes from his innate ability to block a shot using everything from his head to his skate. Frustrating forwards since 1988, Belfour can do just about everything but star in a B-movie.

For you amateur fans, boarding is when you take a cheap shot and slam a man who goes head-first into the wall. Think of a MLB pitcher beaning a runner in the face with a fastball as he walks to first after four balls.

The Panthers' Ticket to the Playoffs
