Hannu Toivonen's .914 save average is pretty remarkable, especially given that last season was the upstart Finn's first in the NHL. With two seasons in the AHL's Providence Bruins under his belt, Toivonen has the kind of conditioning to forge a hot career.

Stricken with a bout of good ol' fashioned mediocrity, Boston is probably most famous for its loss of legendary defenseman Ray Bourque, who abandoned his base for the greener grass in Colorado and a Stanley Cup shot, which luckily materialized in the Avs' '00-'01 championship. In Bourque's absence, team captain Zdeno Chara takes the bill as the man to watch for big hits and some spectacular playmaking. Although his first name might lack some vowels for pronunciation's sake, his slap shot is wickedly fast in any language. At 6'9 260, he's one Czech you don't want to face in a...check.
