It was only a short while ago that Philadelphia Eagles tickets were a prelude to Super Bowl tickets. Should he stay healthy in 2006, McNabb will easily top Jaworski's marks for completions, attempts, and touchdowns. In 2006 the Eagles will be leaning more heavily on running back Michael Westbrook. In 2005 Westbrook led the Eagles with 617 yards rushing, not great stats, but Westbrook was also 3 rd on the Eagles receiving list, racking up another 600 plus yards coming out of the backfield.

Defensively the Eagles had their struggles. Knowing that, Reid assaulted the 2006 NFL Draft, bent on solidifying a unit that had lost it's edge. To begin with, the Eagles took Brodrick Bunkley, a defensive tackle from Florida State . Bunkley will be plugged into a rotation that is already one of the better defensive lines in the NFL. The 3 rd Round yielded Chris Gocong, a 265 lb defensive end from Cal Poly that many draft experts think has the potential to become a premiere NFL defensive lineman. But Reid in the Eagles didn't ignore the offense. Round 2 of the draft brought offensive tackle Winston Justice, a USC product that helped spring Reggie Bush. The Eagles also got some help for McNabb with a pair of wide out prospects in Jason Avant (4 th Round) and Jeremy Bloom (5 th Round).

By jettisoning T.O. and doing his usual solid job in the draft, Reid accomplished two things: He immediately improved his team chemistry by ridding himself of a major disruption and he improved both the quality and depth of his offensive and defensive units. It's the kind of workmanlike performance Philadelphia Eagles ticket holders have come to expect from Reid. But with Dallas, the Redskins, and the New York Giants all on the ascent in the NFC East, the Eagles will have to battle to regain their former position on top of the division.
