Of course, the biggest unanswered question in the history of this sleepy industrial town was the status of All World Quarterback Brett Favre. The Packer iron man finally made his decision and he's coming back for one more year. Donald Driver and Bubba Franks will be back to catch more of Favre's offerings as will Robert Ferguson. The question is, if Favre falters will Aaron Rodgers get his chance? McCarthy may very well face the toughest decision of his professional life early on. Favre will be challenged right out of the gate on opening day when the ferocious Chicago Bears defense comes calling.

Defensively, the Packers got better by signing Charles Woodson away from Oakland . Woodson will make a good team better paired with fellow veteran corner Al Harris who returns for another year. In addition, the Packers strengthened the linebacking core by drafting two Big Ten linebackers, A.J. Hawk out of Ohio State and Abdul Hodge from Iowa . Favre gets some help on offense with the drafting of tackle Daryn Colledge of Boise State and wide out Greg Jennings of Western Michigan .

To turn an old baseball phrase "hope springs eternal" and Packers fans have always had hope. As long as Brett Favre is around they always will.
