Born in Oklahoma in 1961, Toby Keith worked in an oil field and played amateur football. But his love for country music kept him playing gigs with the Easy Money Band. When the oil wells dried up, Keith made the decision to follow his dream of becoming a professional country singer and songwriter. His destiny was soon realized when a flight attendant friend gave Keith’s demo to a Mercury Records representative on a flight, who quickly signed him.
